This year 58 cats and kittens have been through the foster home. Some stayed for just a short time and other because of their injuries or sickness for many months. We have had road accidents, wounds, eye problems, fungus, flu. The list goes on and on. One thing always remains the same however – as always it has been a privilege to help all these sensitive and intelligent felines –both wild and tame!
There are seven large pens in the facility and a large central floor area in the centre. There is a full kitchen/treatment area. We use special hospital boxes for intensive care cases and if a cat needs constant attention they are caned for in the house.
The day starts at about 7.30 am when all guests are fed, medicated and cleaned. All pens are brushed and bleach mopped every day. The kittens what are not infectious play in the centre area. Some animals are very frightened or feral (wild) and need to have a lot of line spent with them to gain their trust so they can be medicated effectively.
Lunch is served at 1 pm and dinner at 6 pm. Any pens which need cleaning are then done again at these times. A final “good night” check is carried out about 9.30 pm and then everyone is shut in until the morning.
Once the cats/kittens are well again and neutered and vaccinated they are either put back into their environment (if it is safe) or re-homed.

A letter to father Christmas from one of the kittens in the foster home:
Dear Santa Claus,
my name is Noel and I am a small tabby and white kitten. I was brought to the foster home on 23rd November infected and closed. I also had flu. But worse I was very very hungry and painfully thin. However now I am much much better and running about playing. I’ve put lots of weight on and my fur is fluffy again. So for Christmas I would like a home of my own.
So please Father Christmas, listen to may plea.
I hope that you can find a good home for me.
I would like to have a family that I can call my own.
So if you think you can love me please pick up your phone. Just ring Brigitte and she will bring me to your home.
My Christmas wish will then come true. I will have a family and a home with you.
Purrs and licks
Noel

Angel came to the foster home on 27th October. She is a beautiful black and white kitten. One of her eyes was totally infected and destroyed and hanging out from the socket and the other eye had a large grey patch. The very seriously damaged eye was removed and an intensive program of eye drops began for the other eye.
Two types of medication alternatively – six times throughout the day. Sadly on December 1st the eye had to be operated on again. The other eye then started to deteriorate too and on 5th December was stitched closed – just a tiny space left open to allow for drops to be administered. So in just a few weeks the kitten has had 3 operations. Throughout all this Angel has been friendly and delightful dignified and brave. As yet we do not know if she will have lose her other eye. She is leaving Crete on the 14th December to go to a new home.
Bless her.
